Author R.C. McDonald: Complex Puzzle

NATIVE BALTIMOREAN LAUNCHES HISTORICAL NOVEL DEPICTING LIFE OF AN AFRICAN-AMERICAN GIRL IN 1960s BALTIMORE

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND, United States, July 7 -- Native historical author and resident of Baltimore, Maryland published her debut Historical Fiction “Complex Puzzle” as part of Nicholson & Fisher Publishing Company’s African-American Family Life line. An on-line party celebrating the completion of the book took place in late July.

Resembling police brutality incidents of 2020, racial discrimination across the United States and The Black Lives Matter movement “Complex Puzzle” is a Coming to Age Historical Fiction of a trusting black girl growing up during the historic and turbulent 1960s. Her mother, having experienced many racial hardships during her life feels the teenager, Kimberly, is a target to those who have negative intentions. The Queen, as Kimberly calls her mother, is hard on the youngster as she tries to prevent the streets from absorbing her daughter. It’s evident that Kimberly fails to understand the hardships faced by blacks in the late 1960’s so the Queen tries, in the only way she knows, to get Kim to toughen up. Kimberly, being a teenager, fights her mother, as she believes that the woman who gave her life hates her. At the same time, her eyes open to the racism, discrimination and police brutality in the city of Baltimore and across the country, forcing her to believe that suicide was the only way to handle the life she was given. “Complex Puzzle '' gives the reader another viewpoint into the many challenging events that escalated with the assignation of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.; As do black children today have to learn to survive with the events of 2020. McDonald grew up in the city of Baltimore to a family of four boys, herself, parents and an extended family. She attended the Baltimore City public Schools, having graduated from Forest Park High school. Later she attended Morgan State University where she earned two Bachelor degrees.

McDonald is currently working on several novels, an historical fiction based on her published book Complex Puzzle book, an Anthology of short stories featuring strong female characters in historic settings and the beginnings of a Mystery series. McDonald loves to write historical fictions with strong female characters and plans on publishing her second book by the end of 2020.
